DSB CU 4130

Danish State Railways

CU 4130 was delivered to DSB as a 3rd class carriage, along with many other similar carriages in the early 1920s. And because of the carriages' driving characteristics and hard seats, they quickly got the nickname "shake carriages". Originally, 4130 had a side passage with 6 compartments in which wooden benches were placed, as well as one toilet in the middle. Around the mid-1950s, DSB had acquired newer and better carriages, and therefore many shake carriages were converted into train driver's carriages, which were mainly used in freight trains. In 1967, 4130 was decommissioned, but not scrapped. It was converted into a workshop carriage, and therefore continued to run until 1987, when DJK bought the carriage. VSVT's old work team restored the carriage, and since it no longer had its interior, 4130 was instead equipped with tables and chairs from a former DSB ferry, as well as a bar counter. 4130 has been on many train trips since 1992, and it is always a big hit to be served coffee and cake, or hear Jazz music while the train drives past the landscape. CU 4130 also sets the framework for our Beer Tasting and Port Wine Experiences.
